4 Teams for Open Category

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Its been a while, and a lot has happened.  The latest is that MJROBOTICS is taking a bold move to introduce 4 teams to compete in the Open Category.  All teams have been training hard, and progress has been steady.  All tema have got a specific idea on what they are going to build, and progress on each project can be said to be at 50%.  The robots have yet to be programmed, and it would be very interesting to see what shall happen once these robots are ready.  The documentation of each project is also in progress.

To be frank, the theme “Save the Plane!” is not an easy theme to tackle as it can be either too scientific in a science fiction way, or too scientific in an educative way.  Nonetheless, MJROBOTICS remains confident that their projects are within the jurisdiction of the theme, and shall be working hard to complete the projects on time.  Nevertheless, the advisors have decided that only the best teams would be sent to represent the school as the NRC is considered a competition at the state level.  Teams are therefore required to have their robots 80% completed by the end of nextweek, or risk being ejected from the NRC2008.

On another note, the organizers of the National Robotics Competition(NRC), headed by the Ministry of Education has yet to release the exact date of this year’s NRC2008 although rumor has it that it will be held at the end of April.  Nonetheless, MJROBOTICS remain optimist that all the projects would be ready before the NRC.

We apologize on the slow update on this website, as numerous other commitments have dampen our intention to keep it as frequently updated as possible.   We hope to keep you updated on our team, and at the same time try to be discreet on our projects.  We do not want our opponents to know our secret, don’t we??

The past week has seen the team suspending all training due to the examinations, and as the government instructed, no training could be carried out from the 6-9th March due to the general elections. We are however hapy to say that training would resume during the public holidays as team members have requested to have training sessions on Tuesdays to Thursdays during the school holidays.

Three teams which will be competing in the NRC08 for the Open category are progressing well. All three teams have already set an objective and know what they are suppose to come up with. Nonetheless, due to the project being a main feature in the Open Category competition, we shall not be disclosing what they are coming up with, and prefer to keep it a huge secret, which would only be shared during the competition day.
