About the team
Beginning 2008, the club has been re-organised to emphasis on better results in the annual National Robotics Competition (NRC) organised by The Ministry of Education and Sasbadi Sdn Bhd. Obvious changes include the change of name from the Robotics club to SMK Matang Jaya Robotics team (MJROBOTICS), and the introduction of selected membership.
This means that student’s are hand-picked by the team advisor’s, with the help of other teacher’s and the student committee. Other improvements include the inclusion of sponsors into the team to help the team financially. In addition to that, under-performing teams would be dropped from competing in the NRC.
The year 2007 say only two teams competing for the Open category, while another 7 competed in the individual category. Team D’Trioz bagged second in the National Robotics Competition Zone L (Sarawak), but failed to represent the state in Kuala Terengganu for the National Finals.
2008 will see less teams competing from MJROBOTICS, as they will only be 4 teams. Nonetheless, all teams will be competing in the Open category.
